Info

Ethno is a unique project for traditional/folk musicians aged 15-28. It includes a series of summer music camps held annually in Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Sweden and irregularly in Australia, France, Uganda, Tanzania, Cyprus, England, Macedonia and Czech Republic with some additional touring projects for smaller ensembles. Each Ethno draws participants from around the globe. At Ethno, young folk musicians meet to teach each other, by ear, traditional folk songs from their cultures.

Through a combination of workshops, jam sessions, seminars, and performances, musicians have the opportunity to learn a variety of musical styles. Bringing together participants from a variety of cultural backgrounds, Ethno is a space for intercultural learning, friendship and exchange. Ethno is a program of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI).

Ethno Flanders is organized on an annual basis by Muziekmozaiek in cooperation with JM Belgium (Flemish community). Since 1999 it has been the meeting place for participants from Belgium and some 32 countries spread on all continents.
